Commensurate Growth of Magnetite Microinclusions in Olivine under Mantle Conditions

In this latest paper Campione Malaspina and co-workers provide evidence that points to a clear epitaxial growth of magnetite on olivine in a particular relationship (with a perfect commensurism i.e., all of the nodes of the magnetite lattice coincide with nodes of the olivine lattice) that must be interpreted as a unique occurrence, playing a fundamental role in favoring the heterogeneous nucleation of magnetite on olivine.
