Our paper on elastic barometry illustrates the difficulties related to Raman measurements on non-cubic inclusions has just been published on American Mineralogist. In her manuscript Chiara Anzolini give us an idea of the greatest source of errors arising from the non-cubic symmetry of the inclusion when the hydrostatic model is employed to interpret the results.
This paper provides the first clear evidence that Raman barometry cannot be used as we all have done so far. The shift of Raman shifts for different modes provide different “pressure” results for the same inclusion if the hydrostatic calibration is used.
